Samsui People And Diamond Queen

Yesterday we talked about Samsui people and we had to remember what we did in the field trip to the Singapore History Museum. We saw lots of things and it was kinda hard to remember everything but at least i took notes so i could remember some things. Samsui is well known for her red hat that she made out of a paper box to protect her head from the sun. She came to Singapore to work and to earn money, she was the FIRST working women in Singapore. Her job was to carry buckets of water and other goods and build houses, roads and shops for the people. They sold little dolls of her in the shops, made out of wool, string and cotton. The Diamond Queen is another name for the very wealthy girl. They called her the Diamond Queen because she had so much money it was like she had diamonds! When the Japanese came to attack Singapore the rich people had to donate to people that need the money for food and safety.
