Olivia Blogs about our morning Exhibition session

During the morning session, students had the chance to look at the cover of a couple books and the contents of these books. We talked about a few key words using our prior knowledge and students were asked to write down what they think the words, "Human Trafficking" and "Asylum" mean.

We will explore these two ideas further this afternoon.

Human Trafficking:
I think human trafficking is when women are being killed for money, sold as slaves and being smuggled into different countries for being sold too. Maybe people will do something worse to them, like trapping them in their own houses, and nobody (and that’s including the government) does nothing about it. Do the people want to do something as horrible as human trafficking? No one should be heavily encouraged by this act of behavior. It might be that people keep it a secret on what they are doing to the poor women. Also, the government might have not noticed it.

Asylum:
I think asylum is when people or a group are forced into hiding because of the wars. The people who are doing this have no money or food to survive, but no one can see that. It might be that the people who are doing asylum are being hunted down by bad people who are hungry for more money. It’s so sad, because some women who are in asylum might have small children, like babies. The babies have a high risk of being killed or kidnapped. It’s very sad and unfortunate for them.
