Sam - Solar Energy

Just as in writing, publishing an educational Minecraft video requires edits, and revisions. After a couple early versions, Sam has a produced a Minecraft video that others can use to better understand how the sun is used to generate electricity.

Like the rest of the class, Sam put into action, skills learned through the grade five exhibition. He used a variety of resources to learn the more technical aspects of solar cells.

Wind - Min Seo

In the final summative project of the year, students pulled together all the Literacy, Math, and Inquiry skills that they have been working on this year. In preparation for this final project, all students needed to organize their time, formulate research questions, use multiple sources of information, apply learned IT skills, collaborate with other students (some), go through a process of revisions, and rehearse their presentations to the class.

The class was given choice as to how they wanted to present the results of their inquires.
Min Seo chose to write a non-fiction book.

In the final summative project of the year, students pulled together all the Literacy, Math, and Inquiry skills that they have been working on this year. Some of us just entered an English learning environment for the first time this year. Independent inquiry isn't an easy thing for and ELL to do, but here in this unit, Mika took a big step by asking her own questions and deciding what she wanted to learn more about.
