Recent Activity in Math

In math, the class has been looking at the process of data collection.  It includes stating a purpose and a question, making a prediction, listing materials, writing a procedure, collecting, representing and analyzing data and drawing conclusions from the data.

Last Friday, student completed their own experiments in which they collected data for to help them answer their questions.  They have been given the task in presenting the ENTIRE through a medium of their choice.  For examples, some may choose to write it up on a googledoc, others may also choose to present their process through a Glogster, a movie, or a poster.  The choice is theirs.

There is a task sheet that they have been giving along with a checklist with the parts of the process that they need to include.  They have been given the choice in working with a partner or completing the task independently.

The deadline for submission was set at upcoming Tuesday.  Time will be given in class to organize and work on the task, but there is also things that can be done at home as well, particularly those who have access to a computer (many student have chosen to use a computer to help them with their presentation).  Please check in with your children to see how they are coming with their work.
