Amy on Camp

5th grade went to camp on 5th of November to 7th of November. I am Amy which is the person that’s climbing on the swinging web high up in the sky. In camp, we did many interesting activities like rafting and  playing in the ocean , but I think that the most challenging activity is climbing up these high elements. When I was up there, it’s very scary as you see in the picture. After I climb all the way up to the top, I need to walk across the first swinging web, then there’s two things hanging up there which you can hold them tightly to walk across a line, so that you can reach the last swinging web. At last, I need to climb all the way down to the ground. Do you think it is fun doing these high elements?

Zipline In Camp

On the second day of camp we had 3 high element courses. The three high elements were, zipline, abseiling and high obstacle courses. My favourite was the zipline. I was a little bit scared at first especially when the trainer said to step on the ledge. When the trainer was hooking the equipment onto my harness, it felt like it was going to pull me before I had everything on but it was fun. When you are on the zipline you try to hit the tire. The trainer said that it is impossible to hit the tire but 1 person did it and another person almost did it. It was really fast and i wanted to do it again. When I was getting all the equipment off me a big bee flew in front of my face which gave me a big shock. The harness really hurt me when I got off the zipline and the other high elements. I think that the high elements were a really good experience for me.

이 집은 버스에서 캠프로갈때 본 노란색 집.
참 창가에 식물들이 많군요. 유리창도 좋고. 마당에도 차가있습니다.
제가 왜 이 노란색 집을 올렸냐면 레고랑 매우 비슷한 노란색 집이기 때문입니다.
정말 신기한거같군요. 레고랑 비슷한 3층집이군요.~ ^_^ 그리고 비쌀거같군요...

I saw this on the bus.  It was really interesting because there are many plants, nice glass and there is a car. Why did I choose this house? It looks the same as one of the lego houses.
And it looks like it is expensive. $_$ So it must be good.... +_+

I like camp but l hate dorms. Dorms are small and hot. And some pieces of wallpapers are gone. Dorms are small but l like some activities. I like rafting. We made our boat. And I want to ride it but our boat broke and became trash but it was fun.

~A nice view in camp~

안녕하세요. 저는 해린이입니다. 이곳은 5학년

캠프에 있는 숙소  4층입니다. 이제 막 해가 떠오르는군요.  이 사진을 찍은 날은 수요일 아침입니다.제가 자고 있을때 이 숙소를 보았습니다. 캠프에서는 너무 더웠고 시끄러웠습니다. 아침준비를 하고 캔틴에 내려가 밥을먹고 하루를 시작했습니.아침 석양이 예쁘지 않나요???

   Hello. I am Hae Rin. This is a photo taken from the 4th floor of the Camp site on Wednesday morning. Then, the sun was about to rise. When I was sleeping I saw this sun rise. In the room it was very hot and noisy. After getting ready for morning we went down to the canteen and had our breakfast, and the day started. Isn’t the morning sunrise beautiful???

The Amazement of the Food at Camp

This was one of the foods that we had to eat at camp. We know that some people liked this food but we (Connie and Ami) didn’t like it at all. I bet some parents think it looks nice and tastes nice but we don’t. It tasted horrible and it was a bit spicy. We are not trying to be mean and also we know that some of the food was really nice just the one that is in the picture wasn’t. Most of us didn’t even like vegetables so we didn’t really want to eat it but other foods most of us liked :). There were no deserts or nice supper before we go to bed. Our favourite foods were the chickens and wedges, they were amazing.  

For drinks we had hot milo,which some people didn’t like and I (Connie) didn’t like it so maybe next time it could be just normal hot chocolate. There was Ribena, it had a bit too much water in it so next time maybe put less water and more Ribena. But you should try out the food at camp because some of the food was pretty good :).

Abseiling camp blog post by Lucas & Vitya!

Hey guys,Lucas and Vitya here! We will be talking about the abseiling that we did in camp!
So, basically abseiling is an activity that we climb down a wall with ropes attached to us so that we don’t fall and we wear a helmet,harness and gloves for safety. We have reflections that could be similar and might be not, so here are the reflections:

Lucas’s opinion/reflection: This is my first time doing abseiling. It was confusing when I first heard about abseiling but then I saw how it works. It looked very fun and exciting, Carsen (My friend/classmate) told me not to be nervous because you have all these ropes and safety gear. So i did it! It was a little pressuring but it was very fun! I tried it again and it was an amazing experience falling from three stories. I wish i could do it again, it’s also training for safety if there was an emergency. It was awesome fun!

Vitya’s opinion/reflection: This is also my first time doing abseiling too! When Allan (The instructor) said that we have to climb down a wall with a rope. I was kind of scared a bit. But then, when I finally done it, I wasn’t scared. Doing it was very fun when I’ve done it, but when I haven’t done it, it was scary. It was a great experience doing abseiling, it was very fun and exciting.

Our Fun Raft at Camp

This is our raft that we made at grade 5 camp.

We made it out of sticks, barrels and rope. Our design was like this:

Then we did a relay against the other teams raft in the ocean. When we did our relay, we were on the raft with Shyla and Nagisa. It was dirty, wet and really fun but smelly! We had a great time but we kept sinking! They never announced the winners of the rafting competition but I don’t think they minded. Although our raft only broke twice. Above there is a picture of me (Emily) shouting ahhh! while we were sinking because the barrel came off and I (Emily) fell in! I didn’t mind though. I only minded a bit when I drank a bit of the sea which tasted of poop, eww! It was disgusting but I (Emily) laughed about it afterwards. I (Miya) think we would've reached the shore sooner if we oared in unison. But I (Emily) did try to help oar in unison I said 1...2...3 ROW! 1...2...3 ROW! But people didn’t listen to us well. But, as people didn’t listen to us, or they didn’t hear me. Either way the raft went really slow and sank at the back. Anyway we had a great a great time and even though we sank and failed it was really really FUN!

Serving food in camp

In camp Mr. Kay (our instructor) asked us for two people from each group. I was one person who volunteered from our group. Amy volunteered too from group two. After Mr. Kay told us to serve the lunch on the first day Amy felt surprised because she never served food for students and I felt like I was shocked and happy because serving food is like being the chef.

We all went rafting after the debating of who’s raft we should use but then... The raft had broken down. So we got to swim and play or float in the water. However I had to hold hands with Sabastian(A boy:( !) and Amy my BFF:). “The water is so warm” I said, but after that Chun,Kevin,Sabastian and some other boys teased me by saying that there is animals peeing in the water so that is why it is warm. Sabastian was so uhh! when I was trying to rub my eyes he said eww but I did not tell him to do it did I. Well... there was a rule of not letting your hands let go and to be sillent. And BTW (by the way) it is ok for me to hold hands with boys.

Abseiling blog post

 

As you can see this was one of the camp activities and this was called Abseiling. We had to put on harnesses, helmets and big dirty gloves.We had to go down from the 4th floor and in the beginning it was scary but in the end everyone had fun. Some people went twice on the Abseiling. It felt quite high when you stand at the top but then you just go down and you end up being fine and having fun. When you are near the bottom someone will be there to hold your waist and get you down safely. We think everyone was scared when you had to go down for your first time and we had to go down backwards to get to the wall so you could get down. We think everyone should try this out, even adults so you can have as much fun as we did.

Campfire at Grade 5 Camp

Grade 5 went on a camp and on Tuesday night (6/11/12) we had a campfire. In the campfire we had a talent show as well and we all had to participate. It was really fun. Everyone enjoyed it. At the end we all danced to the song GANGNAM STYLE, everyone loved it. It was only 3 minutes of dancing but in the end everyone was dripping with sweat. Even the trainers were dancing. We even learned a new clap called ‘Earthquake Clap’. There are also some other claps called ‘Macho Clap’ and ‘Sexy Clap’. We hope everyone had fun during the campfire and all of camp.

On the last night of camp we had a campfire and a talent show it was very fun!
For the talent show in my group was Lucas, Brennan, Shunya and I. We did a skit that there was a boy that tried every sport but he always failed. He first tried running and he pushed me over, then he tried cricket and he hit Lucas in the back, then he tried soccer and kicked the ball to Brennan’s face. The flames from the camp were huge!
