I just want to thank those who have check into the class blog. Students have begun posting experiences up on the blog. One of the things I would like to encourage is commenting on posts by students. This not only bolsters confidence in their participation in the blogging world, it also demonstrates to your children that their work has an audience, encouraging them to perform at their highest levels.
If you would like to receive email notifications of updates on the blog, please enter your email address into the blank field in the column on the right. That way you will find out when any updates have been made to the blog.
Switching over to the unit of inquiry. We are wrapping up this current unit that focused on changes that are experienced, and the way they may change us. Students will walk away from the unit with some short and long term goals, which will be revisited in May.
Our new unit will center around the market world. It is an intense unit as there are only five weeks to cover the content, engage in inquiry and coordinate the year's first relatively large group project. During those five weeks, we will also be running MAP assessments, which will take up 3 sessions over the second and third week (Sept 10th - Sept 21st) of September. Sports day, is coming up on the 14th of September. UN night is on September 20th, and there will be time devoted to rehearsing for this night during school hours. As you can see, there is quite a lot packed into the weeks leading up to October. For these reasons, you will notice a slight increase in the workload that your child brings home. Due to the nature of group work, the exact amount of work is difficult to predict. Instead, it will come down to the ambitions of the group, along with the level of focus during times when students are given time to complete tasks in school.
Please continue to support your child in their learning adventure.
